Abram&#8217;s <em>Fringe<\/em> and notable the character Cyrax in Warner Bro&#8217;s web series <em>Mortal Kombat: Legacy<\/em>. \u00a0Most Recently Mr. Jones can be seen on the\u00a0big screen in the leading role for the film <em>Fight to the Finish<\/em> and guest starring in <em>Dirty<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Warren Jones graduated from Baylor University where he studied acting. \u00a0After graduation he moved to Los Angeles\u00a0where he continued to develop his acting skills at the acting school Carter Thor Studios. \u00a0He is a long-time fan of the martial arts and has studied and practiced in multiple disciplines. \u00a0He finds peace and solace in his life through\u00a0<\/strong><b>meditation. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Hi Shane, Thank you for joining my interview on Ninjagirl! It was last November when we met again in LA. Long time no see and it is pleasure to talk to you again on Ninjagirl!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/27612185\" width=\"500\" height=\"341\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>1.\u00a0 <\/b><b>Can you tell us a little bit about your background?\u00a0 Where did you grow up?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I was born in Toronto Ontario and moved to the United Arab Emirates at a very young age for a few years. Once returning from the Middle East at the start of the first Gulf War I spent most of my life in Houston Texas.<\/p>\n<p><b>2.\u00a0 You have a very unique physical appearance and it is difficult to tell what your ancestral heritage is.\u00a0 What is your family\u2019s heritage?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #444444; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;\">Thank you, I shall take that as a compliment. My family\u2019s heritage is in Canada and the\u00a0Caribbean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>3.\u00a0 What did you study while attending Baylor University?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I studied theatre at Baylor.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-3-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1490 aligncenter\" style=\"padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-3-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg\" alt=\"Shane-3 Final 2000px WMsmall\" width=\"412\" height=\"618\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-3-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg 667w, https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-3-Final-2000px-WMsmall-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px\" \/><\/a>4.\u00a0 What prompted your decision to move to LA and pursue an acting career?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Though I really had no idea what I was in for, LA was a place I felt I needed to be to experience the most personal growth and expansion.<\/p>\n<p><b>5.\u00a0 Have you taken any classes at acting schools around LA?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I experienced a giant leap forward in my fine tuning of my craft under Alice and Cameron Thor at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carterthorstudio.com\" target=\"_blank\">Carter Thor Studios<\/a>, they have created a wonderful learning atmosphere there and I love them for that.<\/p>\n<p><b>6.\u00a0 Why did you choose to become an actor?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The performance and play aspect was the first thing that drew me to it when I was young. The upside was that the more I did it the more I learnt about myself and I love learning.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-16-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1492\" style=\"padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-16-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg\" alt=\"Shane-16 Final 2000px WMsmall\" width=\"335\" height=\"493\" \/><\/a>7.\u00a0 If you had your choice, what types of movies would you want to act in?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Personally prefer movies that stick to one\u2019s pallet and pushes the viewer to think about its theme long after the credits role.\u00a0 Films such as\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/YoHD9XEInc0\" target=\"_blank\">Inception<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and <em>Interstellar<\/em> or anything that Neil Blonkamp has done so far. Films by Luc Besson and Duncan Jones I really enjoy as well if we are getting into larger picture\/dream project territory. But then again movies like the film <em>Always<\/em> by Derek Ting which is a beautiful love story that my peers were a part of that I really enjoyed as well. I guess it depends on my mood and what\u2019s going on at that particular cycle of time in my life. (smiles)<\/p>\n<p><b>8.\u00a0 You\u2019ve acted in many action\/comic book roles.\u00a0 Would you prefer to play the role of the bad guy or good guy in an action movie?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I am\u00a0a character actor so with that in mind it depends on the character. Being a villain in a film has it\u2019s upside as\u00a0 you can get away with more, unless you are just some screaming grunting Neanderthal with zero arc. I have zero interest in doing anything like that. I\u2019m a hero at heart.<\/p>\n<p><b>9.\u00a0 Talk about some of the roles you\u2019ve played so far in your career.\u00a0 The most memorable?\u00a0 The most challenging? \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>They are all challenging in their own way, if not I\u2019ve made a poor choice in project. I will say that I\u2019ve made some lifelong friends from working on <em>Motal Kombat<\/em> so I would consider that to be a very memorable project for me. \u00a0<em>Fight to the Finish<\/em> was very challenging for a number of reasons, one being that we had to do a lot in a short amount of time but that seems to be the norm on most sets for one reason or another, so I have no complaints there.<\/p>\n<p><b>10.\u00a0 Can you tell us about Colton Johnson, your character on <em>All My Children<\/em>?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There isn\u2019t that much to tell, other than it was my first and only experience on a soap opera and they do things very differently than what I was used to. I was also very green at the time if that tells you anything, so thank you for hiring me <em>All My Children<\/em>. (laughs)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hxkHS5tTcuM?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>11.\u00a0 I heard you were a fan of the <em>Mortal Kombat<\/em> series before you were offered the role of Cyrax\/Hydro in <em>Mortal Kombat: Legacy<\/em> &#8211; I even read you used to hang out in arcades and play Mortal Kombat. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Most definitely! When I was a kid there were only a few games I played in the arcade, back when arcades were still a thing in Canada and the US. Street Fighter II, the X-Men 4 player side scroller, Darkstalkers, X-men: Children of the Atom and Mortal Kombat. To me those games were wonderful because I could play them with my close group of friends.<\/p>\n<p><b>12.\u00a0 That was a really cool role and so many people liked it and I want to know what it was like to be in such a famous series.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Thank you for saying so, the fans of the series can thank Tiffany Mac and Kevin Tancharoen for that choice.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/10Small-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1486 align right alignright\" style=\"padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/10Small-copy.jpg\" alt=\"10Small copy\" width=\"305\" height=\"542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/10Small-copy.jpg 450w, https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/10Small-copy-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/a>13.\u00a0 What was the most difficult part about playing your role in Mortal Kombat?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Honestly?\u00a0 Having the faith in yourself to do your job. The running narrative inside of an actor\u2019s head is his\/her own worst enemy at times so when you show up on a set and don\u2019t get that pat on the back\/ validation during your work from an exterior source you just have to trust that the powers that be hired you because they trust that you know how to do what they hired you to do\u2026so just do that and get out of your own way. Now that isn\u2019t always the case mind you, some hire you and doubt you every step of the way and that is unfortunate because that makes for a terrible energy on set.<\/p>\n<p><b>14.\u00a0 Can you tell us about your affinity for arcade games &#8211; especially Mortal Kombat?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>While I don\u2019t play them that much now as time is a factor I do remember spending hours practicing how to pull off fatalities, animalities and the random friendships for certain characters in my basement when the game transitioned to the SNES. I then would pull them off seamlessly when friends came over and played it off like I didn\u2019t practice, kind of like someone buying a pie at store, taking it to a party and presenting it as homemade. \u201cOh this delicious thing that looks complex and would take you hours to bake? Oh I just whipped this up before the party, no biggy.\u201d Why? Because let\u2019s face it, if you are playing Mortal Kombat, even if you win it\u2019s so anti-climactic if you finish the match by pressing all\u00a0 the right buttons for a fatality only to have the character on the screen punch the opponent in the face because you weren\u2019t at the right distance to pull off an ACTUAL flashy finish correctly.<\/p>\n<p><b>15.\u00a0 Who is Cyrax\/Hydro?\u00a0 What is your character\u2019s role in the series?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll have to go and watch<em> Mortal Kombat Legacy<\/em> season 1 for the answer to that question.<\/p>\n<p><b>16.\u00a0 What kind of training have you done in the martial arts?\u00a0 How frequently do you typically train in a given week?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve primarily been practicing Shaolin style Kung Fu, you can thank Chen Chang\u2019s Film <em>5 Deadly Venoms<\/em> for that, one of my favorite martial arts films. It wasn\u2019t until the mid 2000\u2019s when I began dipping my toes into Mui Thai, Capoeira and Martial Arts Tricking as well. My Judo, Akido and Ju-Jitsu need a lot of\u00a0 work. I LOVE Qi-gong and hope one day to expand my knowledge of Iaido and Wushu Spear.<\/p>\n<p>I typically practice 2 times a day 6-7 days a week, and that includes the meditative aspects of them as well.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-19-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1493 align center\" style=\"padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-19-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg\" alt=\"Shane-19 Final 2000px WMsmall\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-19-Final-2000px-WMsmall.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Shane-19-Final-2000px-WMsmall-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/a>17.\u00a0 When did you start to learn the martial arts and why did you begin to study these skills?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I started at 15 years old on and off of course, if I was more diligent I should technically be much more proficient. I began to study for a myriad of reasons at 15 the chief reason being <em>Dragon Ball Z<\/em> and <em>Power Rangers<\/em>. That evolved into bull prevention which evolved into actual self-discipline and health. Now I do it because it keeps me centered and balanced as well as replenishes my spirit\u00a0 which is paramount to me.<\/p>\n<p><b>18.\u00a0 As a component of your training you also are involved in meditation.\u00a0 Can you talk to us about your meditation practices? \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>It would be my pleasure.<\/p>\n<p><b>19.\u00a0 What types of meditation do you do? \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Quantum Healing meditation, Transcendental meditation, Kundalini Yoga\/meditation just to name a few<b> <\/b>along with other forms of energy work.<\/p>\n<p><b>20.\u00a0 How frequently do you meditate? \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I live in it.<\/p>\n<p><b>21<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1487 alignright\" style=\"padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Blackshirt-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Blackshirt copy\" width=\"293\" height=\"429\" \/>.\u00a0 How did you get involved with meditation?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I got to a point in my journey where I was so racked with fear, anxiety and anger that I didn\u2019t recognize myself. I didn\u2019t like what I was becoming and I knew that whatever it was was NOT me. So I decided to take a break from everything to heal, understand and expand rather than contract and live in an ever increasing constrictive energy.<\/p>\n<p><b>22.\u00a0 What are the benefits of meditating regularly?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Too many to list in this interview lol just dive in and make it a habit when possible. I AM grateful and it\u2019s changed my life for the better.<\/p>\n<p><b>23.\u00a0 I understand you\u2019re also involved in gymnastics.\u00a0 Can you tell us about your experience?\u00a0 Have you competed?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Oh haha, I don\u2019t know who told you that but I really didn\u2019t have\u00a0 much tumbling experience until I began studying under a fantastic instructor and friend Nick Stanner and training with friends at JOINING ALL MOVEMENT in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p><b>24.\u00a0 Can you tell us about <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt3152288\/?ref_=ext_shr_eml_vi#lb-vi2780080921\" target=\"_blank\">Fight to the Finish<\/a><\/em>?\u00a0 What is the story line and what who is your character in the movie?\u00a0 There\u2019s tons of fighting in the trailer &#8211; both in and out of the ring!<\/b><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #444444; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', serif;\">Without revealing too much <em>Fight\u00a0<\/em><\/span><em>to the Finish<\/em> is a Drama that I shot about young man named SEAN MCGILL\u00a0dealing with the darker side of what it means to \u201cFIGHT\u201d \u00a0as he battles his way into and out of a series of CAGES. It\u2019s all about perspective.<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-1-ns4J6F5o?rel=0&amp;controls=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>25.\u00a0 What was your involvement with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt3315398\/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1\" target=\"_blank\">Dirty<\/a><\/em>?\u00a0 Its an interesting concept &#8211; two crooked cops trying to track down drugs and money stolen from them that they had stolen in the first place!<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I play Jimmy. I had a blast on <em>Dirty<\/em> because they let me play using the other tools in my tool box, I\u2019m excited for the public to see it because it won\u2019t be what people expect from me and I like that.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Watermark.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1640 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Watermark.jpg\" alt=\"Watermark\" width=\"366\" height=\"549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Watermark.jpg 667w, https:\/\/ninjagirl.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Watermark-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 366px) 100vw, 366px\" \/><\/a>26.\u00a0 Can you tell us about <em>Call to Heroes<\/em>?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><em>Call to Heroes<\/em> is a story I had created when I first moved to LA\u00a0 about a world saturated with amazing beings that was adapted into a trilogy of screen plays with my writing partner.<\/p>\n<p><b>27.\u00a0 In addition to your physical training, acting career and meditation I understand you are also a writer.\u00a0 What have you been writing?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>My writing partner and I also have two other screen plays in the genre of action comedy and action sci fi.<\/p>\n<p>I am currently in the process of writing my first novel\u2026it\u2019s coming along nicely.<\/p>\n<p><b>28.\u00a0 What\u2019s next?\u00a0 Are you currently working on some projects?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I have a few irons in the fire currently.<\/p>\n<p><b>29.\u00a0 You are a very handsome man -you\u2019re very good looking.\u00a0 What do you think is your best physical feature?\u00a0 How would you explain this to your fans?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Thank you for the compliment. Don\u2019t ask me how that\u2019s going to happen but it will, I assure you.<\/p>\n<p><b>32.\u00a0 What do you think a Japanese audience would think of your films?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I would hope they would enjoy them.<\/p>\n<p><b>33.\u00a0 Have you considered sending your films to Japan? Or, have you done so already?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Oh I\u2019m sure the distributors of said films have, though that is not something I currently have control over.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thank you again for your interview.
